Well, mother nature was kind to us tonite. The temperature was mild but the air was heavy. Lucky number 13 was the number of teams that came out to play and here's what went down:
After 2 rounds of qualifying
#1 Thomas Myers - 4.305 at 167 mph
#2 Frankie Taylor - 4.361 at 168 mph
#3 Doug Riesterer - 4.386 at 155 mph
#4 Heath Harvey - 4.442 at 160 mph
#5 Gaylen Smith - 4.515 at 128 mph
#6 Steve Gorman - 5.546 at 153 mph
#7 JR Boiles - 4.594 at 157 mph
#8 Nathan Martin - 4.606 at 151 mph
#9 Greg Green - 4.677 at 152 mph
#10 Ron Curley - 4.891 at 144 mph
#11 Eddie Roach - 8.560 at 0 mph
#12 Grant McCrary - 9.151 at 47 mph
#13 Keith Farris - 28.783 at 43 mph
First Round:
Gaylen Smith (W) 4.145 at 176 mph (.070 RT)
Heath Harvey (RU) 4.459 at 161 mph (.024 RT)
After struggling in qualifying, team TBH finally got the Bounty Hunter down the track. He was still in and out of the throttle a couple of times on this run but it was enough to take the upset win over Heath Harvey who had the hole shot but couldn't catch the HEMI.
Doug Riesterer (W) 5.670 at 80 mph (.031 RT)
Steve Gorman (RU) 13.050 at 66 mph (1.02 RT)
I was on the return road when this race was ran so I didn't get to see what happened but from the times, it didn't look pretty.
Frankie Taylor (W) 4.260 at 171 mph (.041 RT)
JR Boiles (RU) 4.606 at 156 mph (.139 RT)
Has Frankie been practicing on the tree???? He's had some pretty decent lights the last couple of times out. As soon as they get the new combination figured out, with these kind of lights, the Taylor boys will be deadly once again.
Nathan Martin (W) 4.363 at 161 mph (.023 RT)
Thomas Myers (RU) 4.305 at 167 mph (.104 RT)
Nathan Martin is driving David and LeeAnn Baldwin's '63 Vette and he took advantage of Thomas napping on the starting line.
Semi Finals:
Frankie Taylor (W) 4.502 at 132 mph (.048 RT)
Doug Riesterer (RU) 6.794 at 64 mph (.060 RT)
Another great light for Frankie. He thought TXR needed to trim the grass as he drove past Doug for the win.
Nathan Martin (W) 4.391 at 123 mph (.037 RT)
Gaylen Smith (RU) 4.309 at 138 mph (.070 RT)
Gaylen got the win light but was disqualified because the car was still loose on the top end and he crossed the center line and hit the cone.
Finals:
Frankie Taylor (W) 4.392 at 146 mph (.164 RT)
Nathan Martin (RU) Broke
Nathan pulled up to the starting line but he had trouble keeping the candles lit. A loose wire on the power switch gave the automatic competition bye run win to the Taylor Boys. Paul said he hates to win that way but a win's a win.
Congratulations to Team Taylor for the victory and also to Nathan Martin for the runner-up finish on his first night out since he crashed his '63 Vette early last year.
I wanted to thank everyone for the well wishes on our anniversary. Spending it with our extended racing family was great and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm looking forward to spending 26 + more years with the silver fox!
Blown - 12
