TOPMA - Texas Raceway 8/10/07 _______________

Well we wanted it to stop raining so we could race and mother nature listened......but boy was it HOT! Frankie made his Kennedale debut with the new Corvette. During round 1 of qualifying the car moved over and scraped the passenger side of the car on the guardrail and still ended up being number 1 qualifier after round 1 of qualifying. He went back to the trailer and with help from several people he was able to get the car back in line for round 2. Here's how everything ended up:

#1 Frankie Taylor - 4.112 at 177 mph
#2 Thomas Myers - 4.167 at 170 mph
#3 Gene Hector - 4.207 at 167 mph
#4 Steve Wiley - 4.226 at 171 mph
#5 Doug Riesterer - 4.344 at 145 mph
#6 Gaylen Smith - 4.398 at 134 mph
#7 Chuck Poindexter - 4.726 at 149 mph
#8 Ken Thomas - 4.800 at 138 mph

Not qualified:

Tim Cruce, Eric Clark & Howard Brown

Round 1:

Doug Riesterer (W) 4.058 at 177 mph (.037 RT)
Steve Wiley (RU) 4.868 at 130 mph (.060 RT)

Doug finally got a Kennedale combination put together and Steve's car moved around which is out of character for that car. Normally it goes straight down the middle of the lane.

Gene Hector (W) 4.294 at 164 mph (.055 RT)
Gaylen Smith (RU) 4.608 at 118 mph (.009 RT)

Gaylen meant business as he chopped the tree down but the staff of TXR didn't spray the "grass" so Gaylen had to lift and watch Gene drive around him to take the win.

Thomas Myers (W) 4.088 at 176 mph (.180 RT)
Chuck Poindexter (RU) 4.800 at 146 mph (.051 RT)

Thomas was a little late leaving the starting line but he made it up pretty easy as he flew past the Luvamaro to take the win.

Ken Thomas (W) 4.163 at 173 mph (.072 RT)
Frankie Taylor (RU) 4.304 at 145 mph (.211 RT)

Not sure what Frankie's problem was but Ken took advantage of it and got the upset win putting #1 qualifier on the trailer. Oh, and Ken was sporting a new paint job. The Bad Bird looks awesome guys!

Semi Finals:

Thomas Myers (W) 4.073 at 177 mph (.153 RT)
Gene Hector (RU) 4.777 at 122 mph (.035 RT)

Rebecca, you better get Thomas some no-doze.

Ken Thomas (W) 4.246 at 171 mph (.050 RT)
Doug Riesterer (RU) 5.515 at 98 mph (.047 RT)

Both cars left together but Doug was unable to repeat his 4.0 pass and Ken takes another win into the final round. (Must be the new colors)

Final Round:

Thomas Myers (W) 4.091 at 174 mph (.067 RT)
Ken Thomas (RU) 4.243 at 167 mph (.047 RT)

Ken was going for the third upset win but fell short as Thomas backed up last month's win and won back to back at Kennedale. Congratulations to Thomas, Rebecca and crew for your win. Congratulations to the Thomas Motorsports camp for their runner-up finish as well.

All the teams will be making adjustments and hitting I-45 South to Houston.
